Surfacing

Surfacing explores the transformation of nature into culture, where organic forms gradually crystallise into geometric patterns. Inspired by the repetitive structures of seeds, scales and woven fibres, the collection draws on ancient Kongo patterns and the cyclical philosophy of the Dikenga.

Ingraved and inlaid surfaces reveal a dialogue between the organic and the mineral, the ancient and the contemporary. Black evokes birth, white the ancestral realm, and yellow the presence of spirit. Repeated across each piece, these colours and patterns reflect the continuous cycles of becoming, transformation and renewal.
