Surfacing – Efflorescence Earrings

Hand-carved from reclaimed palm nut, the Efflorescence Earrings preserve the individual contours and natural asymmetry of each kernel. Their engraved surfaces are cut through and framed by three-dimensional forms in recycled silver, finished with layers of gold-dust gilding.
The repeated geometry appears to grow and flower across the dark organic surface, its precise structure gradually softened by the textured gold. Moving between geometry and growth, nature and culture, the earrings explore transformation as a continuous cycle. In Kongo cosmology, black evokes birth while yellow-gold represents the spirit world.
