Central to M.kala is the collaboration with local artisans in the Republic of Congo, who play an essential role in preserving the craftsmanship that is been passed down through generations.

By wearing M.Kala jewellery, you help maintaining crafters in their practice despite the fragile context in Congo-Brazzaville.

Maitre Prudence Maguimba

Prudence Maguimba is a wood carver and the owner of a woodturning workshop in Pointe-Noire: "Atelier Génération Nguengue".
Very involved in the life and welfare of artisans, he also is directing a national association of artisans. His profession was passed on to him from his father who was also taught by his own father. Unfortunately, because of the dear condition in the country, he is also working as a security agent in Pointe-Noire airport to make ends meet.
Prudence was already using the palm nuts' kernels as beads when we met.

Maitre Matsimba

Maitre Batsimba is a jeweller with a workshop in Pointe-Noire's town centre where he works with his brother.

Each piece of jewellery combines ancient aesthetics and contemporary modern design sensibilities and techniques. The aimed result is jewellery that tells a story of renewal, sustainability, and innovation.
